A perennial flooring favorite for the ages, today’s tile is stronger, more stylish, and more enduring than ever. Tile floors are the perfect solution for busy households and fluctuating climates, since it stays pristine with very minimal upkeep and resists moisture. Best of all, there are currently thousands of tile flooring options available, so there’s bound to be one that’s a perfect fit for your style, needs, and budget.
Types of Tile
Today’s tile shoppers will be pleased- and possibly a bit overwhelmed- to discover the many, many tile options being presented to them. An important note to remember is that the majority of today’s tiles are made from stone, ceramic, or porcelain. What’s the difference?
Ceramic tile is crafted from natural clays and minerals. This tile performs extremely well in settings with heavy foot traffic.
Porcelain tile is made in a process much similar to ceramic tile: the major difference is that this tile gets fired at higher temperatures. The result in a much denser tile that’s often a first choice for outdoor living areas.
Stone tile is made using various types of stone, including granite, slate, and marble. These stone slabs are cut into shape, and often polished to form a luxurious tile.
